ESCAPE
to the unnoticed

 

With *Escape from the Unnoticed*, I take the step towards installation art for the first time. A shift full of vulnerability and wonder that simultaneously makes room for play, experimentation, and trust in a process that unfolds gradually.

The work consists of air cuhion bags that leave behind their short, functional life as packaging material. Liberated from anonymity, they together form a light, changeable structure in which light plays and in which rhythms emerge and dissolve again. There is a paradox in this material: air, an element that normally moves freely and elusively, is here trapped in small plastic chambers. Passive. Silent. Waiting for a destination that usually ends in oblivion.

 

This work is fundamentally collective.
It originated for the exhibition *Lucht in gradaties* (Bruges, April 2026) and currently consists of 2,500 air cushion bags, all donated by friends, family, and those involved. After Open Studio Days on May 2 and 3, 2026, at Kadans, Aalter, the installation will travel to a group exhibition in Bruges at the end of June.
